About the Founder
Where We Began
Homemade Haven began with a growing awareness of how everyday choices can influence long-term health, particularly at a cellular level.
Living with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) led to a deeper understanding of mitochondrial dysfunction and how sensitive the body’s energy systems can be to environmental stressors. Mitochondria, often described as the body’s “power source,” play a fundamental role in how our cells function, repair, and cope with daily demands.
That awareness naturally extended beyond diet to the products we use every day. Many store-bought items contain unnecessary chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and materials that contribute to ongoing environmental exposure. These substances aren’t limited to food, they’re also present in the products we clean with, wash with and apply to our skin.
DIY initially felt like a solution. In practice, however, it was often inaccessible. Ingredients were commonly sold only in bulk quantities, had to be sourced from multiple suppliers, and came with high postage costs,
usually resulting in a mountain of plastic rubbish.
Homemade Haven was created to meet this gap. It began with sourcing the core ingredients people actually use, offering them in realistic quantities, and explaining clearly what they do from a DIYer’s point of view. The goal was never to turn households into experts, but to make informed, lower-tox choices feel achievable in everyday life.
This was never about eliminating exposure entirely, that isn’t realistic in the modern world. It was about understanding what matters, reducing what doesn’t need to be there and making practical improvements where possible.
Our Mission
Where We Are Now
Today, Homemade Haven is a small, considered ecosystem built around one clear goal: helping households make more informed, low-tox choices in practical, everyday ways.
At the core of Homemade Haven is a curated range of clearly explained DIY ingredients, offered in quantities designed for DIY use. Whether you’re following one of our recipes or working from your own, the focus is on accessibility, clarity and practicality.
Alongside this sits SafeHaven, our household cleaning range. SafeHaven bridges the gap between DIY control and ready-to-use convenience, offering effective, low-tox cleaning solutions crafted with our low-tox philosophies in mind.
Completing the ecosystem is TerraPure, our toiletries and personal-care range. TerraPure products are thoughtfully formulated and made in small batches, with careful attention to ingredients, function, and finish.
Across all three, we prioritise:

Environmental toxins are part of modern life, but they don’t have to define our choices. DIY offers a practical way to take back control, reducing unnecessary exposure and supporting more informed decisions over time.

Looking ahead, Homemade Haven will continue to grow with
intention guided by clarity, practicality, and the real needs of everyday
households.
Our focus isn’t expansion for its own sake, but thoughtful refinement: improving formulations, sourcing better materials, and making information clearer and more useful for the people who rely on our products.
Over time, we plan to introduce a fourth brand focused on simple, practical swaps for items that contribute to microplastics and unnecessary environmental toxins. This will include everyday alternatives such as organic cotton produce bags, bamboo and wooden kitchen tools, and glass food-storage options - designed to help households replace plastic gradually, without pressure or perfectionism.
Alongside this, we intend to continue expanding the TerraPure range. As this range grows, we plan to engage a qualified formulation expert to help optimise performance, safety, and consistency, while remaining aligned with our values around transparency and thoughtful ingredient
selection.
Our DIY offering will also continue to evolve. We’ll broaden our ingredient range where it makes sense and expand the recipe bank to support more skill levels, uses, and everyday scenarios; always keeping DIY practical, approachable, and grounded in real life.
We’ll keep exploring ways to reduce unnecessary packaging, minimise waste, and support more responsible production, while staying realistic about what’s achievable in everyday homes. Most importantly, we’ll keep showing up with integrity.
