DIY Alcohol Fragrance Spray
This is a proper alcohol-based fragrance — not a room spray, not a body mist, but something you apply to pulse points and wear as personal fragrance. Perfumer's Alcohol carries and projects scent differently to oil bases: it creates an initial burst that dries down to the base notes of your blend. The 48-hour rest period after making it is not optional — it genuinely transforms the scent.
HERO INGREDIENT — Perfumer's Alcohol
Perfumer's Alcohol is specifically formulated for fragrance use — it's highly refined, almost entirely odourless, and dries completely clean on skin without any of the sharp note that standard ethanol carries. It allows your Essential Oil blend to be the only thing you smell, without the solvent character that home-made fragrance sprays using cheaper alcohol bases often have. Store away from heat and open flames.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Essential Oil blend — the fragrance — use 3 mL per 30 mL batch for a standard Eau de Toilette strength; increase for a more concentrated result
Distilled Water — a small addition that softens the initial application and helps the fragrance settle into a more rounded opening note
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH BOTANIC EMBER
Botanic Ember's complexity — the interplay of Cardamom, Cedarwood Atlas, Bergamot, and Sweet Orange over a resinous base — is what makes it work as an alcohol-based spray, where the opening notes matter most. The initial Bergamot and Sweet Orange burst gives way to the Frankincense and Vetiver base as the alcohol dries down, which is how a well-structured fragrance is supposed to behave.
