A body scrub has one job: remove dead skin cells that have built up on the surface, and leave the skin underneath conditioned rather than raw. The salt provides the physical exfoliation, the oils condition as you work, and together they mean you finish with skin that's both smoother and softer in one step. Make it in small batches to keep it fresh.
HERO INGREDIENT — Cleaning Salt In a body scrub, salt works mechanically — the crystal edges physically dislodge dead skin cells from the surface as you massage. As the salt granules dissolve during rinsing they release the carrier oils they were mixed with, transitioning the scrub from exfoliation to conditioning in the final rinse. Medium-grain salt is ideal: coarse enough to be effective, fine enough to be comfortable on body skin.
