DIY Facial Moisturiser
A facial moisturiser is the most personal product in a skincare routine — and the one most worth making yourself, because you can choose exactly what goes into it. This formula uses Rosehip Oil for active skin repair, Jojoba for stability and barrier support, and Olivem 1000 to create an emulsion light enough for daily facial use. It does the work without the unnecessary ingredients.
HERO INGREDIENT — Rosehip Oil
Rosehip Oil is the active ingredient in this formula — it contains trans-retinoic acid, linoleic and linolenic acid, and a range of compounds with documented effects on skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines. In a facial moisturiser it provides targeted repair within a hydrating emulsion base, which means the active compounds are delivered to the skin in a format that also addresses daily moisture needs. Store finished moisturiser away from light to protect the Rosehip Oil from degradation.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Jojoba Oil — stable carrier oil in the oil phase that adds lightweight conditioning and extends the shelf stability of the Rosehip Oil
Olivem 1000 — plant-derived emulsifying wax that creates the light, elegant emulsion structure appropriate for daily facial use
Aloe Vera Gel — soothing and hydrating in the water phase — contributes to the calming quality of this formula on reactive skin
Vegetable Glycerin — humectant that draws moisture into the skin and gives the moisturiser its immediate hydrating effect on application
Geogard ECT — preservative essential in any water-based facial product — add below 40°C and do not omit
