DIY Toilet Cleaning Powder
Drop it in, let it fizz, scrub, flush. That's the whole routine. The three active ingredients here each have a specific job — the bicarb deodorises, the percarbonate releases oxygen to lift staining, and the citric acid descales mineral deposits around the bowl. Together they handle everything a commercial toilet cleaner does, without the chlorine.
HERO INGREDIENT — Organic Sodium Percarbonate
Sodium Percarbonate is the cleaning workhorse in this formula. When it dissolves in water it releases hydrogen peroxide, which acts as an oxygen bleach — lifting stains, killing bacteria, and brightening the bowl without chlorine. It's fully biodegradable, breaking down to water, oxygen, and soda ash. Keep it completely dry until use or it will activate prematurely.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Bicarbonate of Soda (Food Grade) — deodorises, contributes to the fizzing action, and gently abrades the bowl surface during scrubbing
Citric Acid (Anhydrous) — dissolves mineral deposits and limescale, and reacts with bicarb to create the fizz that drives the cleaning action into the bowl
Essential Oil — optional — Tea Tree or Lemon add a clean scent and light antimicrobial benefit
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH LIFT
Lift's combination of Tea Tree and Eucalyptus adds genuine antimicrobial support on top of the fragrance, which matters in a toilet cleaner. The Peppermint sharpens it — there's no mistaking this for a product that's just masking odour.
