DIY Glass & Mirror Cleaner
Streak-free glass is one of those things that sounds simple and somehow isn't — until you understand why commercial formulas work. The answer is alcohol. This recipe uses Isopropyl Alcohol alongside vinegar to evaporate quickly and completely, which is what prevents streaking. The result is genuinely better than most things I've used from a bottle.
HERO INGREDIENT — Isopropyl Alcohol
The secret to streak-free glass is fast, complete evaporation — and Isopropyl Alcohol evaporates much faster than water. It also dissolves grease and fingerprint oils that vinegar alone struggles with. Combined with vinegar for mineral deposits and water for dilution, it produces a formula that evaporates cleanly before it can leave residue.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Cleaning Vinegar — dissolves hard water deposits and mineral film that build up on glass and mirrors over time
Distilled Water — prevents the mineral deposits that tap water can leave on glass surfaces
Lemon Essential Oil — optional — adds a fresh scent and light grease-cutting support
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH LIFT
A glass cleaner needs a scent that evaporates as cleanly as the formula itself, and Lift does exactly that — no heavy base notes, nothing that clings. The Lemon and Peppermint are gone the moment the glass is dry, which is the right outcome for a streak-free result.
