DIY Hand Cream
Hands are washed more than any other part of the body and exposed to more environmental stress — detergents, temperature changes, contact with surfaces. A hand cream needs to be rich enough to repair that damage, absorbed quickly enough to be practical, and stable enough to last. This emulsion ticks all three.
HERO INGREDIENT — Olivem 1000
In a hand cream, Olivem 1000 creates an emulsion structure that penetrates the skin more readily than heavier wax-based hand creams. This is what gives it the quick-absorbing quality — the oil droplets dispersed through the water base are small and uniform, which means they reach the tissue efficiently rather than sitting on top of the skin. The result is hand cream that actually conditions rather than just temporarily coating.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Jojoba Oil — lightweight carrier oil in the oil phase — absorbs readily and provides lasting conditioning without the heaviness of heavier emollients
Refined Shea Butter — adds richness to the oil phase and contributes deep emollient conditioning for chronically dry hands
Aloe Vera Gel — soothing and hydrating in the water phase — particularly beneficial for hands that are frequently washed
Vegetable Glycerin — humectant that draws moisture into the skin and extends the conditioning effect between applications
Geogard ECT — preservative essential in this water-containing formula — add below 40°C
