A simple protective balm to nourish and soften dry lips
Yield 10 g · Difficulty Beginner · Time 15 minutes
Ingredients
3 g Organic Beeswax Pellets
3 g Refined Shea Butter
3 mL Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT)
1 mL Castor Oil
3 drops Vitamin E Oil
1–2 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil (optional)
Method

Once fully melted, add the Fractionated Coconut Oil and Castor Oil. Stir to combine.
Remove from heat immediately.
Add the Vitamin E Oil and Essential Oil if using. Stir.
Working quickly, pour into clean lip balm tubes or small tins (a 20 mL kraft push-up tube works well too).
Allow to set at room temperature for 15–20 minutes; do not disturb while setting.
Label when set.
Equipment
Double boiler or heatproof jug in hot water bath
Lip balm tubes or small tins
Stirring rod
Digital scales
How to use
Apply to lips as needed throughout the day. Safe for daily use. Reapply before bed for overnight conditioning.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. May soften in warm temperatures; refrigerate in summer. Use within 12 months.
Safety
Work quickly; beeswax sets fast. Water-free formula; no preservative required. Sweet Orange is one of the few essential oils suited to lip use: non-phototoxic and well tolerated at the low dilution used here. Keep to 1–2 drops; lips need a far lower dilution than skin. Avoid “hot” oils (cinnamon, clove) and phototoxic citrus (bergamot, cold-pressed lemon or lime) on lips. Do not disturb while setting. Keep out of reach of children.
