DIY Lip Balm
Lip balm is one of the first things people make when they start formulating their own products, and for good reason — it's fast, it works, and the ingredients list is something you can read out loud. Beeswax provides the structure, shea softens it, coconut and castor oil condition, and Peppermint makes the whole thing feel alive on the lips.
HERO INGREDIENT — Organic Beeswax Pellets
Beeswax is what holds the formula together and what makes it a balm rather than an oil. When warm it's workable and pourable; at room temperature it forms a firm, flexible barrier on the lips that protects against moisture loss and environmental exposure. The crystalline structure of beeswax gives this balm its characteristic smooth glide — no stickiness, no drag.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Refined Shea Butter — softens the beeswax and adds a creamy conditioning quality — prevents the balm from feeling waxy rather than luxurious
Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT) — lightweight oil that keeps the formula workable and contributes to the smooth application feel
Castor Oil — provides gloss and helps the balm adhere to the lips longer than lighter oils alone would allow
Vitamin E Oil — antioxidant that extends shelf life and adds conditioning benefit directly to the lip tissue
Peppermint Essential Oil — optional — creates a cooling, plumping sensation on application; use at 2 drops per 10 g for a subtle effect
