DIY Massage Oil
A good massage oil needs to provide enough slip to allow hands to glide without absorbing too quickly, and it needs to leave skin nourished rather than just coated. This blend of three carrier oils — each with a different molecular weight and absorption rate — achieves exactly that. Use it warm for the best experience.
HERO INGREDIENT — Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond Oil has been used in massage for centuries because its viscosity is almost perfectly suited to the purpose — enough slip to allow sustained gliding strokes without pooling, and a medium absorption rate that keeps skin lubricated throughout a full massage. It's rich in oleic acid and vitamin E, which nourish skin during prolonged contact.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Jojoba Oil — liquid wax that adds stability to the blend and extends the gliding quality without leaving a heavy residue
Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT) — lightweight oil that absorbs readily and balances the heavier feel of Sweet Almond in the blend
Vitamin E Oil — antioxidant that extends shelf life and provides additional skin-nourishing benefit during application
Essential Oil — optional but recommended — choose for the experience you want to create; the blend on this page is our suggestion
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH BOTANIC EMBER LIGHT
Massage oil is applied close and warm, so the blend needs to work at body temperature — Botanic Ember Light does, opening up on skin in a way that's genuinely pleasant rather than sharp. Sweet Orange and Bergamot FCF lead; Cedarwood Atlas follows and settles in a way that suits slow, deliberate application.
