DIY Mould Treatment
Mould on grout and bathroom surfaces is one of the most common household problems, and most commercial mould sprays use chlorine bleach as the active ingredient. This formula uses Hydrogen Peroxide — a gentler oxidiser that works on contact without the fumes, the skin irritation, or the damage to coloured grout.
HERO INGREDIENT — Hydrogen Peroxide 3%
Hydrogen Peroxide is an oxidising agent that kills mould by breaking down its cell walls on contact. At 3% concentration — the standard pharmaceutical grade — it's effective against mould, mildew, and bacteria without the harshness of bleach. It must be stored in a dark bottle because light degrades it, and it has a shelf life of about three months once diluted.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Tea Tree Essential Oil — adds well-documented antifungal properties and a clean, clinical scent that signals the surface has been treated
Eucalyptus Essential Oil — optional but effective — supports Tea Tree's antifungal action and improves ventilation during use
Clove Essential Oil — optional — adds powerful antifungal action through its high eugenol content; use sparingly and avoid on light-coloured grout or silicone as it may stain
Distilled Water — dilutes the Hydrogen Peroxide to the correct working concentration
