DIY Toilet Cleaning Powder
A fizzing powder for a clean and refreshed toilet bowl
Drop it in, let it fizz, scrub, flush. That’s the whole routine. The three active ingredients here each have a specific job: the bicarb deodorises, the percarbonate releases oxygen to lift staining, and the citric acid descales mineral deposits around the bowl. Together they handle everything a commercial toilet cleaner does, without the chlorine.

Ingredients
- 150 g Bicarbonate of Soda (Food Grade)
- 100 g Organic Sodium Percarbonate
- 50 g Citric Acid (Anhydrous)
- 20 drops Lift Essential Oil Blend (optional)
Method
- Ensure all equipment and the storage jar are completely dry.
- Weigh each dry ingredient separately.
- Combine all dry ingredients in a clean mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly with a dry spatula.
- Add Essential Oil immediately and stir through.
- Transfer immediately to a clean, dry airtight jar.
- Label with product name, date made, and ‘Keep dry’.

How to use
Sprinkle 2–4 tablespoons into the toilet bowl. Allow to fizz for 10–15 minutes. Scrub with a toilet brush and flush. For stubborn stains, leave overnight before scrubbing.
Storage
Store in a completely airtight container in a cool, dry place. Any moisture will cause premature activation. Use within 12 months.
Safety
Keep all equipment dry; Sodium Percarbonate activates on contact with moisture. Do not inhale powder dust when mixing. Keep out of reach of children.
