DIY Bathroom Surface Cleaner
An effective spray for tiles, taps, basins and benchtops
Bathrooms are one of the places where the conventional cleaning product industry really oversells the chemistry. This spray handles tiles, taps, basins and benchtops with the same three ingredients as the all-purpose formula, just with a higher vinegar ratio for tougher soap scum and mineral build-up.

Ingredients
- 380 mL Distilled Water
- 100 mL Cleaning Vinegar
- 15 mL Liquid Castile Soap
- 20–25 drops Lift Essential Oil Blend (recommended)
Method
- Sanitise the spray bottle before use.
- Add the Cleaning Vinegar and Liquid Castile Soap to the spray bottle.
- Add Distilled Water slowly and swirl gently to combine.
- Add the Lift Essential Oil Blend.
- Label with product name, date made, and ‘Not for natural stone’.

How to use
Shake gently before use. Spray onto bathroom surfaces and leave for 1–2 minutes. Wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge. Rinse surfaces if needed.
Storage
Store in a cool, dark place. Use within 6 months. Shake before use.
Safety
Do not use on natural stone (marble, granite, travertine); the vinegar will etch the surface. Keep away from eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

I recommend trying it with Lift
Lift was the first blend I tested in a bathroom cleaner because its Tea Tree and Eucalyptus content means it’s doing more than just scenting the room. The Peppermint and Lemon keep it from reading as medicinal: it finishes clean and bright, which is exactly right for a bathroom.
