DIY Bathroom Surface Cleaner
Bathrooms are one of the places where the conventional cleaning product industry really oversells the chemistry. This spray handles tiles, taps, basins, and benchtops with the same three ingredients as the all-purpose formula, just with a higher vinegar ratio for tougher soap scum and mineral build-up.
HERO INGREDIENT — Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree is one of the few Essential Oils with genuinely well-documented antimicrobial properties — it's been studied extensively against bacteria, fungi, and mould spores. In a bathroom cleaner it does real cleaning work, not just fragrance. A small amount goes a long way and the clean, clinical scent signals something is actually happening.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Cleaning Vinegar — dissolves soap scum, mineral deposits, and hard water staining on tiles and taps
Liquid Castile Soap — provides surfactant lift to remove grime and body product residue
Distilled Water — dilutes and carries the active ingredients to the right working concentration
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH LIFT
Lift was the first blend I tested in a bathroom cleaner because its Tea Tree and Eucalyptus content means it's doing more than just scenting the room. The Peppermint and Lemon keep it from reading as medicinal — it finishes clean and bright, which is exactly right for a bathroom.
