DIY Floor Cleaner
A gentle everyday cleaner for sealed floors
A clean floor doesn’t need a cocktail of synthetic surfactants, just three simple ingredients that actually belong in your home. This recipe cleans without leaving residue, which means no slippery film and no chemical smell lingering after you mop. I use it on sealed timber, tiles and vinyl and it works just as well as anything I’ve ever bought.
Yield 500 mL · Difficulty Beginner · Time 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 450 mL Distilled Water
- 25 mL Cleaning Vinegar
- 25 mL Liquid Castile Soap
- 10–15 drops Lift Essential Oil Blend (optional)
Method
- Add the Distilled Water to a clean bucket or bottle.
- Add the Liquid Castile Soap, then the Cleaning Vinegar.
- Add Essential Oil if using.
- Stir gently to combine; do not shake vigorously.
- Label with product name, date made, and ‘Not for unsealed wood or natural stone’.

- Clean bucket or 1 litre bottle
How to use
Add directly to a mop bucket or apply sparingly to floors. Mop as usual. No rinsing required unless residue remains. Suitable for sealed tiles, vinyl, laminate and sealed timber floors.
Storage
Use fresh where possible. If stored, keep cool and use within 2–3 weeks. Stir gently before use.
Safety
Do not use on unsealed wood or natural stone. Do not mix with other cleaners. Avoid eye contact. Keep out of reach of children.
