DIY Floor Cleaner
A clean floor doesn't need a cocktail of synthetic surfactants — just three simple ingredients that actually belong in your home. This recipe cleans without leaving residue, which means no slippery film and no chemical smell lingering after you mop. I use it on sealed timber, tiles, and vinyl, and it works just as well as anything I've ever bought.
HERO INGREDIENT — Liquid Castile Soap
Castile Soap is a pure plant-based soap made without any synthetic detergents or petrochemicals. It lifts dirt and grease from surfaces by surrounding particles and allowing them to be rinsed away cleanly. Unlike conventional floor cleaners, it leaves no residue — which matters on floors where you walk barefoot or where children and pets spend time.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Cleaning Vinegar — cuts through grease and mineral deposits, and acts as a natural disinfectant on hard surfaces
Distilled Water — keeps the formula free of minerals that could dull sealed floors over time
Essential Oil — optional — adds fragrance and mild antibacterial benefit; Lemon and Tea Tree work well here
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH LIFT
Lift brings together Eucalyptus, Lemon, Peppermint, and Tea Tree in a blend that reads as fresh and functional rather than perfumed. On floors — especially in high-traffic areas — I want a scent that signals clean without lingering, and Lift does exactly that.
