DIY Liquid Hand Wash

A simple gentle castile hand wash for standard pump dispensers

Yield 500 mL  ·  Difficulty Beginner  ·  Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

• 350 mL Distilled Water
• 130 mL Liquid Castile Soap
• 15 mL Vegetable Glycerin
• 2 g Xanthan Gum (optional; for a thicker, gel-like consistency)
• 10–15 drops Soothe Essential Oil Blend (optional)

Method

1. Sanitise the pump bottle and your mixing jug.
2. If using Xanthan Gum, whisk it into the Vegetable Glycerin first to form a smooth slurry; this stops it clumping in the water.
3. Pour the Distilled Water into the mixing jug, then stir in the Vegetable Glycerin (or the glycerin and xanthan slurry) until evenly dispersed.
4. Add the Liquid Castile Soap last and stir gently; do not whisk hard or it will foam up.
5. Add Essential Oil if using and stir through.
6. Pour into a standard pump bottle.
7. Label with product name and date made.

How to use

Pump onto wet hands, lather and rinse well. Suitable for any standard liquid soap pump dispenser. A small amount goes a long way.

Storage

Store cool. Best used within 4–6 weeks. Swirl gently if separation occurs.

Safety

Patch test if you have sensitive skin. Soothe uses Bergamot FCF; safe for skin application. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.
