DIY Kitchen Degreaser
The stovetop, the rangehood, the splashback behind the pan — these are the surfaces that need something stronger than an all-purpose spray. This formula has a higher ratio of both Castile Soap and vinegar, which gives it the cutting power for cooked-on grease without being harsh on surfaces or the hands that are cleaning them.
HERO INGREDIENT — Cleaning Vinegar
At 6–8% acetic acid, Cleaning Vinegar is genuinely stronger than the version in your pantry. On kitchen grease — which is largely saturated fat that has been polymerised by heat — the acid breaks the molecular bonds that make it sticky and hard to remove. Combined with the surfactant action of Castile Soap, it lifts grease that sprays with a lower acid content would just push around.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS RECIPE
Liquid Castile Soap — provides surfactant lift to suspend the loosened grease so it can be wiped away cleanly
Distilled Water — dilutes the active ingredients to a safe, effective working concentration
Essential Oil — optional — Lemon or Orange add a fresh citrus scent and additional grease-cutting support
I RECOMMEND TRYING IT WITH LIFT
Lift was formulated with cleaning in mind, and a kitchen degreaser is its natural habitat — the Lemon and Peppermint cut through cooking smells while the Eucalyptus and Tea Tree do the antimicrobial work. It's the blend I reach for when the kitchen needs more than a wipe-down.
